Hamilton Hoarding Case Sparks Debate

Authorities seized 58 dogs — 55 of them mini poodles — from a Stoney Creek home deemed unsafe due to extreme neglect.

The costs:

• Original bill to the owner: $108,928.64

• Covered boarding, transport & veterinary care

After appeal:

• Reduced to $10,000 due to financial hardship

• Unemployment, major debt, and caring for an autistic child were cited

The review board still emphasized that uncontrolled breeding significantly increased the costs.

What do YOU think?

Should the full bill have stayed with the owner — or was the reduction fair?
